Our lion’s mane mushrooms, or hericium erinaceus, is sustainably sourced from Southern Finland on Finnish birch substrate. We ensure responsible management of forests by only using FSC or PEFC certified substrates. This natural lion’s mane tincture is completely free of synthetic ingredients. No fillers or mycelium grain are included – only fruiting bodies are used in production to ensure that your tincture is potent and contains all the health benefits of the lion’s mane mushroom. The correct extraction process is vital to achieve a pure and potent lion’s mane tincture. Our Ultrasonic Assisted Extraction (UAE) technology ensures that the compounds of interest are
removed from the chitin wall of the mushrooms. This increases the bioavailability of our lion’s mane tincture, increasing its overall effectiveness. Lion’s Mane Origin & Appearance
The lion’s mane mushroom (hericium erinaceus) belongs to the hydnoid fungi group, and it grows in humid climates in a singular cluster of white dangling spines. Its distinct appearance has resulted in several nicknames ranging from “satyr’s beard” to the “bearded hedgehog mushroom”.
Used widely in Asia for both culinary and medical purposes, Lion’s mane extract contains compounds that stimulate the growth of brain cells, and evidence suggests that this may protect them from damage caused by Alzheimer’s disease. It also contains beta-glucan, which helps lower cholesterol and keep the heart healthy and aids the prevention of heart disease. Another common use of this diverse liquid supplement is to promote a healthy gut. It has been suggested that lion’s mane extract may protect against the growth of stomach ulcers and protect the stomach lining from damage. Research suggests that the diverse Lion’s mane mushrooms, such as those used in our
tinctures, can also contribute to improved cognitive function. Decision making ability may be positively impacted following its consumption – one study in Japan found that 50-80 year olds who took Lion’s mane supplements daily for 4 months scored higher on cognitive function scales than a placebo group – although further research is needed to confirm this.
